Detroit, a city with a pulse of resilience and a heart of gold, played host to a love story as beautiful and enduring as its architectural gems. Two nurses, bound by their dedication to healing and their love for each other, said “I do” in a ceremony that echoed through the hallowed halls of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, a testament to both faith and enduring love.
When I arrived sunlight was streaming through the expansive windows of the Renaissance Center, painting the bridal suite in a golden glow. As the girls finished up their busy morning I grabbed some portraits of Sara, who looked incredible standing before the floor-to-ceiling windows, taking in the breathtaking vista of Detroit.
Her Alyne gown, a masterpiece of understated luxury, clings to her curves like a whisper. Crafted from ivory silk, it cascades gracefully around her, the simple silhouette punctuated by delicate shimmer that twinkles like morning dew. The long, white gloves, reaching past her elbows, add a touch of timeless sophistication, their smooth expanse echoing the sleek lines of the city skyline.
Sara and Blake chose to exchange letters before the ceremony rather than doing a first look. They wanted to preserve the moment they saw each other for when Sara made her way down the aisle at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church are surrounded by their closest friends and family.
Stepping into Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church is like stepping into a time capsule of Detroit’s grandeur. Soaring Gothic arches, bathed in the warm glow of stained-glass windows, whispered tales of a bygone era. The air buzzed with anticipation as Sara made her way down the aisle only to see Blake holding back tears of joy at the end. The soft murmur of vows, punctuated by the occasional sniffle from a proud colleague, filled the sacred space, creating a moment of pure magic.
Following their I do’s we headed to the DIA for some iconic couples and wedding party photos. After their DIA photo op, we made our way to one of my favorite Detroit wedding venues the Colony Club. A Detroit landmark steeped in history and exuding timeless glamour. We captured candid moments as the bridal party filled the space with laughter echoing through the grand entrance. Immortalized the camaraderie as champagne flutes clinked during speeches in the opulent ballroom, and documented the joy as everyone danced the night away.
Huge shout out to Sara and Blake’s vendor dream team
